In 2019, U.S. net imports (imports minus exports) of petroleum from foreign countries averaged about 0.53 million barrels per day, equal to about 2.7% of average daily U.S. petroleum consumption.This was the lowest percentage since 1949, the first year for which the U.S. Energy Information Administration has historical data. Working gas in storage was 2,043 Bcf as of Friday, March 6, 2020, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decrease of 48 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 796 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 227 Bcf above the five-year average of 1,816 Bcf.
